A new survey from Good Techonology said that most employees spend an average of 1+ hours after work each day answering emails or taking work related calls. Surprisingly, this average adds up to 7 hours per week! Ahhh, a whole extra day at work just from evenings!? It's no wonder everyone is so tired. I'm glad to say I work for myself at home now but for most american's that's not the case!
With everyone being so tired from work, it's even MORE difficult to find the energy AND time to exercise. Eeeek! Hopefully these tips will help you! xoxox
1. Eat more foods, more frequently!
Eating more often will not only keep your metabolism up but it will also keep your blood sugar levels in check! I know when things are busy it's hard to remember when and what to eat --> enter your smartphone! I use mine for everything!! You can set reminders and alarms to go off at certain times, and there's a ton of apps out there to help remind you as well. In case if you don't know of any, "LIFT" is a great one that can remind you of anything you need, including, eating at a certain time!
2. Eat Good Carbs
I know when "dieting", AKA eating clean, it can seem counter productive to eat carbs but the truth is - that's NOT true! Haha.. no but seriously. You need carbs to fuel your body and to give you energy! ESPECIALLY if you're working out! The best carbs come from sweet potatoes, oatmeal, brown rice, and veggies! If you're fuelling your body with those kinds of carbs you have nothing to worry about! Just make sure you're also eating proteins and fats, but remember - don't skip your carbs! Not only will you be more energized, you'll be less cranky!
3. Drink More Water
I'm sure by now you're heard the importance of drinking water, and thats because it really IS important! Our bodies are made up of 70% water so in order to keep ourselves running properly we need to hydrate often enough to keep the body well oiled! Have you ever felt dizzy or tired or just not sharp after a day of drinking coffee? Thats because caffeine is a diuretic! So if you're drinking coffee you need to drink even MORE water just to combat the coffee! A good rule of thumb is to take your body weight, divide that in half, and drink that amount in ounces. If you're working out, drink more! If you drink coffee, drink even more!! So in general, drink A TON of water! :)
4. Relax
Giving yourself time to relax is so important as this is the equivalent to "sharpening the saw". We all know that chopping down a tree with a dull axe for 5 hours is much less effective then spending an hour sharpening the saw and needing only 2 hours to chop the tree down afterwards. Hopefully you've heard that expression! But as you can see, just like a saw our bodies run the best mentally and physically when we are on our A game! & in order to be on our A game, we need to take care of ourselves! Take a bubble bath once a week, allow time for fictional reading, meditate, etc.
5. Get Enough Rest
Most adults, even some teenagers, aren't getting enough rest! There's always something to do, or something on TV keeping us awake at night, right?! Haha... I know. But you need to stop that! Not getting enough sleep contributes to your overall body health, and can even hinder your heart health as well! Aim to get 7-9 hours of sleep each night and you'll notice a difference right away! Not only will your skin start looking brighter but you'll feel more alert and energetic the next day! Stay on top of your z's :)
Hope these tips help!!
