The Home Workout Diaries: Pilot
I know, how clever right?
jk.
ANYWAYS, most of the people in my life are extremely familiar and even SWEAR by home workouts, but for people who've never experienced home workouts before it can seem kind of...
- unproductive
- lame
- weak
- stuck in the 80's
- not meant for serious results
- ect
But for people who ARE familiar with home workouts you know the truth:
- more productive
- saves time (from not driving to the gym)
- extreme results
- foolproof schedule
- no guesswork
- just press play
- ect
Basically what I'm about to show you is just how seriously amazing home workouts really are.
You DON'T have to deal with people looking/staring/watching/judging/competing/hitting on you at the gym.
You DO get to experience pressing play from your living room, wearing whatever you fancy, grunting as loud as you need to, and knowing your workout will only take 30 minutes TOTAL out of your day.
These facts alone should have you excited about working out, hehe!
But I know the feeling of being unsure, when I first decided I wanted to get serious about losing weight I *sigh* joined a gym EVEN THOUGH I already had a home workout and had seen them work before.
I worked out 5 days a week, and it took about 2 hours out of my day, and I gave up before I saw results because I didn't have enough time for 2 hours a day, I wasn't seeing results even after a month of this, I didn't enjoy my time there due to feeling uncomfortable and watched, not to mention totally CLUELESS...
okay okay, I'm getting off track.
Basically what I'm saying it I'm going to document every single amazing and challenging detail of working out at home for the next month and it's going to be called...
THE HOME WORKOUT DIARIES
Yes working out at a gym does work for some people! I'm not saying it doesn't. But what I AM saying is that working out form home is (for me) more convenient, more productive, a better use of my time, provides better results, is easier, faster, and funner.
I know some people never felt uncomfortable at the gym and for them thats great! But for me I never enjoyed the environment - ladies... you feel me?!
I've lost 20 lbs so far using Turbofire and InsanityMax:30 (at home) :
Now I'm excited to see where I can get after a month of true diligence on my workouts and nutrition, no skips and no cheat meals! (okay... maybe one pizza night)
More later!!

A Day in the Life of a Beachbody Coach
This quote is a good place to start
When I first became a full time coach it included a lot of sex and the city, a lot of reading, and a whole lot of naps. My business was going downhill fast and I couldn't figure out "WHY?!" because "I'm doing the daily to-do list??!!" What I realized is that if I'm doing the bare minimum it means I'm gonna GET the bare minimum in return.
So, I worked through my outside issues that were clouding my brain and now I work about 8 hours a day. I'd LIKE to get to a place where I can do more like 10-12 but right now it's hard with Charlie whining for potty breaks and ball time --> I'll get there I promise!
My day now looks something like this:
6:00 AM - wake up and workout
7:00 AM - eat breakfast and pack Matt's lunch
8:00 AM - shower and get ready
9:00 AM - booty in office chair - work hours BEGIN!
- respond to messages in inbox
10:00 AM - create Facebook event for 21 Day Fix Extreme Launch
10:30 AM - invite 10-15 friends to the event and personalize each invite!
12:00 PM - eat lunch and take mini break
12:30 PM - blog: topic varies each day
1:30 PM - respond to more messages and follow up
2:30 PM - create Facebook content for personal page and LIKE page
3:30 PM - take Charlie for a walk
4:00 PM - update list of friends and reconnect
4:30 PM - read personal development book (currently reading: You Are a Badass)
5:00 PM - start making dinner
Then Matt comes home and we usually relax for an hour and eat dinner, then from 7-8:30 we both do more work and during that time I'm normally creating more facebook content or inviting/responding to messages!
It makes me wonder how I could've been so delusional during my Sex and The City phase but also, I was going through a dark time and was letting outside forces affect my mindset. I'm SO glad that it's over now! I have a lot of growing to do still, and my business is really just getting started, AKA I'm at square 1 - but I'm going full steam ahead and I can't wait to see where it's at in 5, 10 years, etc. My first goal is to retire Matt in 5 years so we'll see how things are going in 2020! HOLY COW. I just freaked myself out. 2020??!?!?
Ummm, I need to go make myself some tea or shakeology to calm down.
More on this later! (after I add instagram and youtube to my arsenal)

How To: Be Confident
You know when you see someone at the grocery store or in the mall and you just notice her walk, her talk, her eye contact, her whichever and you're like damn, that girl is confident! I want to be like that. Well, YOU CAN! HOORAY!
Confidence is not a feeling reserved for the beautiful, rich, or basically any other character you'll attribute necessary for confidence, nope! Confidence is inside of you, and you just need to dig it out!
You see, confidence is what REAL beauty is. When you see someone who grabs your attention, most of the time it's not their hair, makeup, or outfit, that looks amazing, its the way she exudes confidence. And why? Because confidence speaks volumes about self acceptance, and when you accept yourself, you're not comparing yourself to others, SO- what I'm trying to say is, when you're around someone confident you FEEL them accepting you as you are! Because they're not comparing themselves! Make sense?
Okay, great!
So, how do YOU become miss confidence?
It's really a quite simple formula. But the execution can be a little more difficult.
Let me break it down.
Step 1. Love yourself. Give yourself a hug when you wake up in the morning, tell yourself you look amazing after your shower, be kind to yourself when you make mistakes and REALLY congratulate yourself when you do awesome!
Loving yourself can be a long journey for some women but getting there is SO important. If you have no idea where to start try repeating these outloud right now:
I am worthy of love.
I am amazing and I am more than enough.
Love flows through my effortlessly.
I love myself more and more everyday.
I accept myself for who I am because I am made perfectly for my lifetime on Earth.
The next step, and this one is kinda my favorite (guilty!)
Step 2. Love others. I KNOW! This one is unexpected but so dang fun. Love everyone you see, and give compassion when you see someone you would normally judge. Be understanding, kind, and open minded. When you love others you will love yourself more because you're allowing yourself you accept the flaws all around us. "Flaws" are actually what make each of us unique and aren't true flaws at all (this will start to make more sense eventually, scouts honor)
When you give love, you're really giving yourself love. Its one of those beautiful laws of the Universe that when you make someone else day, you're really making your own better. So GIVE LOVE!
Mother Teresa was a smart, smart woman who lived an incredible life. Trust her advice!!
When you love yourself, and love others, confidence will sweat out of your pores! (But not in the gross way, in the happy Elle Woods way)
Love yourself
Being confident is so much more than being pretty.
- Stop comparing yourself to others! Remember, love them as you would want others to love you. Life is not a competition and you are doing an amazing job regardless.
- Think positively! Don't listen to the negative voice inside your head. Remember, repeat those positive loving statements above.
I am worthy of love.
I am amazing and I am more than enough.
Love flows through my effortlessly.
I love myself more and more everyday.
I accept myself for who I am because I am made perfectly for my lifetime on Earth.
- Accept mistakes! They happen, honestly.
- Don't let anyone define you. At some point you will come across people who don't like you, and thats perfectly normal! Embrace it with a take it or leave it attitude.
- Do something you love! & do it constantly! Doing things you love only make you more of who YOU are. If you love soccer, then gosh darn play soccer! Or if you love to shop, hey that mall is waiting (and so am I, call me shopping buddy!) Doing things you love make you happy. Make time for fun things, you never want to be so busy chasing a goal that you forget to live life along the way!
You don't have to be fit, skinny, or have the best hair to be confident! You don't have to be accepted by everyone either. Being confidence starts with you!
Love yourself, and love others.

How To: Grab Life by the Balls
Step 1. Decide right now you're worth it
Wait what? What am I worth?
Every risk, failure, rejection, heartache, accident, embarrassment, frustration, downfall, misstep, EVERYTHING. You are worth it. Those mistakes MAKE YOU who you ARE! And you are on a very special road called life and you're meant to experience those things so that you can accomplish your dreams.
YES, I'm talking to you!
I know you have dreams. & you're going to accomplish them. You're not destined to aimlessly walk through life kinda experiencing a small degree of success when your 40. NOPE, you're gonna do better than that because you CAN and you're MEANT TO!
Now that we've agreed your mistakes are awesome and they were MEANT to happen we can move on to..
Step 2. Make a list of the things you want in life
Go ahead! I'll wait. Just write it down even if it feels silly. Do you want a boyfriend? A mazzerati? (Did I spell that right?) A HUGE house on the water in Mexico?
Some of those might sound silly but seriously, allow yourself to dream big for a second and write them down.
Step 3. Go for it!
What?! This is the worst advice ever!
I know what you're thinking. And it sounds crazy but it really is that simple.
Let's say the car is your biggest and wildest dream. You know what you need to do to get it, but you just don't want to do it because your afraid of failure. And that fear of failure holds you back because... if you actually go for it and fail then it would mean it'll never happen, so it's better to just stay back here doing nothing to ensure there's still the "possibility"... right? WRONG! That's LAME! You can do better than that!
If you go for it and fail, then you go for it again. and again. and again. until you get the car.
Do you catch my drift here? (haha, get it? drift?)
You are seriously the only thing holding you back.
You need to bust a#$ at your job, and work your tail off so you can get promotions. You need to save money so that you have the down payment. You need to brainstorm ideas to start your own business. You need to whatever. You have the power inside of you to do it. But you need to first realize that power and then actually ACT on it. THAT's how you get the car, the boyfriend, the job, the body, etc.
You feel me?
It sounds simple and that's because it really is! But most people don't actually do it because they allow the fear of failure to hold them back. Here's some good news for you: you're gonna fail. And then your gonna succeed. Success doesn't come without failure first. So, what's it gonna be? The safe life avoiding further failure, or embracing that old friend of yours and riding him to the land of success!
That was a lame metaphor but you know what I mean.
Ride it cowgirl!

Let's Get REAL & Talk About FITNESS
Hey chicas!
So, you're wondering: What;s the REAL deal on this fitness stuff, right ?
Well, I'm here to tell ya the deets!
The truth is... it's a lot of work. I know some people will be modest and say "Oh thanks. I just did X + Y, and I lost 20 lbs!" And yes... that's what it is on the outside. But on the inside, it takes a LOT more than X + Y to lose weight.
It is a CONSTANT priority that needs be at the FRONT of your mind.
You need to make same the decision to eat healthy 20+ times in ONE day! It sounds so simple to say, "Well, I cut out junk food and stopped drinking soda!" But in reality it should sound more like this "Every second of everyday I was fighting a battle between my old habits and between my new goals. It was a lot of work and sometimes my my new goals didn't win. I worked out regularly and sweat so much I think I could've discovered another ocean. I took baby steps, TIIIINYYYY baby steps, every. single. day. It was hard, and sometimes I doubted myself, but those baby steps all added up to a big leap, and that's where I am today!"
Okay. Is that dramatic? Maybe.
But is it true? Yes.
Weightloss and getting FIT is not a one time decision. You have to CONTINUE to make the same decision every time you eat, everytime you think about eating, and everytime you're contemplating if you should skip your workout for the day.
So what I'm saying is - it takes a lot of work.
Should that discourage you? HECK NO!
I know, I must be crazy right? How could this be motivating anyone? Hear me out:
The work you put in is SO much more than just a push up/sit up/I lost 2 more lbs!
It's about taking YOUR POWER BACK.
When you're on the journey of health you are quite literally changing your outside and most importantly - your inside.
You change. You will be less stressed. You will be more productive. You will be happier.
Yes! Happier. So take that power back NOW.
You've heard about all the endorphins and what not so I'm not going to go into it here, but you will feel like a new person. The same amazing you, but even more amazing. When you start to see changes on the outside, thats when you'll to feel changes on the inside.
Let's be honest here - the inside is WAY more important than the outside.
You may not know it yet, but when you do you'll be happy to be on this side of the fence. Your inside is glowing inside of you like a giant ball of sunshine waiting to burst out!
So here's the dealio. It takes work. It takes time. But it will be worth every. dang. second. You're practically gonna want to hug your neighbor and adopt every cat in the world - that's how happy you'll be! (jk about the cat thing... or am I?)
Regardless of any cat adoptions about to go down, you need to make it a priority, just like your marriage would be! But you DONT have to go crazy. Small baby steps added up into one giant LEAP forward. If you don't know where to start, start walking and start upping your water intake. When you're ready for more seriousness you can join my challenge group here. But even if you're not ready for that, you GOTTA make it happen, because you DESERVE to be happy. Hard work, yep! Happiness resulted, yep! Love you guys!
What do you think? Are you already on the fitness bandwagon or are you struggling to get started?
xo, Jessica
